I have been studying martial arts for over 30 years.  I first dabbled in Martial Arts when I was 6 with Ree Taekwondo only attending about 15 classes in total with a friend of mine Nicky Hailwood.  At the age of 8 I began Shotokan Karate with another friend at my local P.C.Y.C. my friend left and I remained for the next 6 years achieving a second Dan at the age of 14 before my Sensei died in a motor bike accident.

I did a bit of Judo and TKD in school and TKD at Bassendean library reaching black belt but didn't really return to Martial Arts until  I was 16.  I spent the next 6 years with Shihan John Ang studding Ninjukai Taijutsu achieving red belt at the age of 22.  While doing Ninjukai Taijutsu I also started boxing at my old training ground of the local P.C.Y.C. at the age of 19 training for 2 years.

Towards the end of my boxing I joined Wushu Do at the age of 20 and stayed there for 5 years finishing at the age of 25.  During my time with Wushu I competed in tournament sparing and made the state and national team.  I then went onto a short stint in full contact fighting with great success and competed in a no holds bared tournament in Port Headland. I finally got to the point where I realised tournament sparing and full contact fighting was still after all only a sport and not an accurate representation of reality and after all those years of training I found that most main stream
Martial Arts all had the same problems when it came to close quarters combat.

Not wanting more sport related martial arts I decided to jump around different schools to pick up different techniques and I trained myself for the next 4 years until serious injury took me away from my passion and almost destroyed my life. Doctors told me I would never do martial arts again and I would be in a wheel chair by the age of 35.  After several years of declining health and depression  I found Sifu Peter Guy and Grand Master Cheungs Traditional Wing Chun.  Peter took me under his wing and brought me back from the brink of death and years of depression and reignited my passion for life and martial arts again. I have been training Traditional Wing Chun for 6 years + a have been attending every class and doing private lessons under Sifu Peter for the same period and my health is now excellent with no signs of my previous injuries hindering my training.

I am now not only a Sensei but also a Sifu of Traditional Wing Chun and a proud partner in the ever growing Perth Wing Chun Academy.  I have taught many styles but nothing compares to  Traditional Wing Chun System.  I invite any one who has a passion for martial arts to come and join us in the most scientific system in the word today.
